Short Shaheedi Story
On June 3rd, 1984, Bhai Sahib was reassigned to a new defensive post on the top floor of the Sham Singh Dera Building, located near the Amritsar flour market. From this elevated vantage point, he had a clear line of sight over the advancing Indian Army positions. This strategic location allowed him to effectively engage enemy forces and inflict significant damage. Bhai Sahib carried out his duties with unwavering resolve, following the command of General Shabeg Singh Ji, and continued to resist with remarkable bravery.
By the morning of June 7th, around 11 a.m., the Indian Army launched a concentrated assault on the Sham Singh Dera Building. The attack was intense, and many brave Singhs were martyred in the heavy onslaught. Those who remained, including Bhai Inderjeet Singh Ji, had exhausted their ammunition. With no food for days, they were physically weakened and in dire condition. Eventually, the Indian forces stormed the building and captured the surviving defenders.
Tragically, the captured Singhs were not shown mercy. Bhai Inderjeet Singh Ji and 21 of his fellow warriors were executed by firing squad, embracing martyrdom in the process. Though gravely wounded, Bhai Inderjeet Singh Ji was taken to an army camp, where he ultimately attained Shaheedi.
