Short Shaheedi Story

On 28 February 1989, Bhai Ajmer Singh Lodhiwal and Advocate Bhai Bakhtaur Singh Bathinda were waiting for Bhai Sher Singh Sher Pandori at Ludhiana Railway Station. They had planned a meeting to discuss the next portfolios and actions of their jathebandi. Meanwhile, the police had either received prior information about their gathering or spotted Bhai Sher Singh upon his arrival at the station.

As soon as Bhai Sher Singh Sher Pandori arrived, the police surrounded them. Most of the Singhs were unarmed. The police encircled and apprehended them. Among them, Bhai Ajmer Singh was the most wanted, particularly in connection with the assassination of SSP Avinder Singh Brar and SP (Headquarters) KRS Gill on 14 December 1987 in Patiala.

Bhai Ajmer Singh Lodhiwal always carried a cyanide capsule in his clothing. He consumed the cyanide capsule and attained martyrdom. Bhai Sher Singh Sher Pandori and Advocate Bhai Bakhtaur Singh Bathinda were arrested. The next day, both of them were killed in what was described as a fake encounter by SSP (Ludhiana) Sumedh Singh Saini.

In an interview, the notorious police cat Gurmeet Singh Pinky claimed that Gurcharan Singh Saidpur, a former AISSF worker, had helped the police arrest three Kharkus and is now settled in the USA. Younger brother of Bhai Sher Singh Sher confirmed this claim in an online interview.
