Short Shaheedi Story

Harcharan Singh Suri, the Station House Officer of Jandiala, killed both Bhai Harpal Singh Pappu and Bhai Avtar Singh Parrah in a fake encounter. However, the newspaper reported that two dangerous Khadku Singhs of Babbar Khalsa, including Bhai Harpal Singh Pappu, were killed in an intense encounter. The report claimed that when fellow members of Babbar Khalsa attacked the police near Harike village during the transport of the two Khadku Singhs, Bhai Harpal Singh Pappu was killed, while Bhai Avtar Singh Parrah escaped with his fellow Singhs. It is believed that the police either killed Bhai Avtar Singh Parrah and disposed of his body in the Harike river or killed him later while in custody.
