Short Shaheedi Story
On May 25, 1990, a crucial meeting of four Kharku organizations, convened by Dr. Sohan Singh’s Panthic Committee, took place in Ludhiana to plan a Punjab shutdown on June 7, 1990, in remembrance of the June 1984 massacre. Top leaders, including Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar and Bhai Gurjant Singh Budh Singh Wala, gathered, but the meeting's location was betrayed to the police. Sensing the danger, Bhai Gurnam Singh Pahlwan, on his way to the meeting, diverted the police by engaging them in a gunfight. His brave actions allowed the leaders to escape but led to his martyrdom. Bhai Gurnam Singh's sacrifice saved the Kharku leadership and stands as a symbol of courage and selflessness.
